Nagano is most famous for Zenkō-ji,  the gateway to a variety of sightseeing spots. Nagano was originally a small town in Kamiminochi District built around the hilltop temple, the largest wooden building in eastern Japan, but the city now has locations that were within Sarashina, Hanishina, and Kamitakai districts. Nagano is much better in the winter because its snowing all the time. In the winter there is a nice places for skiing and snowboarding its very fun there. Nagano is my favorite place in Japan for skiing and snowboarding.
